Six Reasons Clients Return to Suwan

Experienced Hands

Over fifteen years of workshop practice across Swiss and Japanese movements. Every technician is trained in-house and works to the same standard.

Written at Every Stage

Assessment, agreed scope, completion notes — all in writing. Nothing moves forward without your knowledge and agreement.

Honest Recommendations

We suggest the work we think your watch needs, not the most comprehensive option. If a lighter touch will do, that is what we recommend.

Preservation-Minded

Original parts, surfaces, and finishes are considered carefully before any change is made. We treat irreversible decisions with appropriate caution.

Clear Communication

We explain what we find in plain terms. Technical language is used where it is helpful, not as a barrier between you and your watch's condition.

Transparent Pricing

Starting prices are published. Final costs are confirmed in writing before work begins. There are no additions without your prior agreement.

In Depth

What Each Advantage Means for You

Professional Expertise

Watchmaking is a discipline that takes years to develop properly. Our lead technician trained formally in both the Swiss and Japanese traditions, and that breadth shapes how we approach every job. We understand the logic of different movement designs and the manufacturing choices that influenced how they were built to be serviced.

In practice, this means we are less likely to make avoidable mistakes, more likely to identify what is actually causing a problem, and better placed to make sound judgements about what conservation or restoration work is worth doing.

Proper Tools and Materials

A timing machine, a watchmaker's microscope, correct-profile screwdrivers, and lubricants sourced from specialist Swiss suppliers — these are not luxury additions. They are the baseline equipment for work done to a reasonable standard. We maintain and calibrate our instruments regularly.

Using the correct lubricant for a given component is as important as the servicing itself. The wrong oil in the wrong place degrades faster, attracts dust, and leaves the movement worse off than a clean service would have.

Service That Keeps You Informed

Many people who bring a watch for repair describe the same experience: they leave it, hear nothing for weeks, and receive it back with a brief note and a bill. We try to make the process feel quite different. You receive a written assessment, a quote, and an update if anything changes during the work.

For restoration work in particular, we discuss every significant cosmetic choice before making it. A decision about whether to refinish a case or leave a patinated dial is one that belongs to the owner.

Value and Pricing Clarity

Our starting prices are listed on our solutions page. We publish them because we think it is reasonable for you to know roughly what to expect before handing over a watch. If the final cost differs from the starting price, the reason is explained and agreed in advance.

Independent workshops like ours generally offer more accessible pricing than authorised service centres for the same level of care, without the overhead of brand affiliation or large-scale operations. We pass that difference on rather than absorbing it as margin.

Outcomes That Last

A well-executed mechanical service should keep a watch running reliably for several years under normal conditions. A restoration carried out with the right materials and approach should not need revisiting for a long time. We aim for durability in our work, not just short-term results.

We also provide aftercare guidance for each watch we return — brief notes on winding, storage, and use that are specific to the movement type and service carried out.

What Makes Suwan Different

Distinctive Features of Our Workshop

Restoration Log for Every Conservation Job

For Restoration & Conservation work, we produce a written log of what was found, what was done, and what decisions were made during the process. This document travels with the watch and becomes part of its history.

Original Parts Kept and Returned

Replaced components are packaged and returned with the watch. For a vintage piece, old parts have value — as reference, as spares, or simply as part of the object's story. We do not discard them without instruction.

No Work Without Written Agreement

We do not begin servicing or restoration until you have seen and agreed the scope and cost in writing. This protects you from unexpected charges and gives us clear guidance on how to proceed.

In-House Training Only

Our technicians are trained directly under Prayuth's guidance and do not work on client watches until they meet the workshop's own standard. We do not subcontract servicing to outside parties.
